Maintaining water quality is the key to shrimp aquaculture

Farming shrimp isn't as easy as just putting shrimp into a tank. The water has to be rigorously maintained to ensure that the shrimp stay healthy. At Triple J Farms, they do 11 different tests on every tank every day. Everything from dissolved oxygen levels to pH are checked and measured.

As far as inputs to manage the water, Triple J only relies on four inputs: shrimp feed, simple syrup, a probiotic and baking soda. That's it. If you run your shrimp farm properly using biofloc, a bacteria specifically cultured to live in harmony with the shrimp while consuming fish waste, you can keep everything in check using just those elements.
