Cultivating cane at Kō Hana

Sugarcane is a type of grass — kind of like bamboo — that grows very fast and is easily propagated. At Kō Hana, the team grows dozens of heritage varieties of cane on the farm, distilling each variety individually to express the unique flavor and aroma of each one. Some of these canes were almost lost entirely — it took the partnership of many people to gather up these ancient cane varieties and many years to bring them under cultivation.

Through crafting their agricole rum, Kō Hana is saving these unique types of cane, preserving them for future generations.
